Linking Grantown on Spey and Blairgowrie via Tomintoul, Ballater and Braemar, this 90 mile route takes you over the two highest roads in Britain, the Cairnwell pass at 2198ft and the Lectht at 2113ft.  In addition to some of the highest points, the snow road takes in some of the most spectacular roads the Cairngorms have to offer.

Not only do these roads offer breathtaking views, but they offer some truly amazing driving too.  The section of road at Bridge of Brown plunges down from the hills around a series of hairpin and near hairpin bends.  The bends at the Tomintoul side, like the Stelvio pass in minature, really let you use all the torque to power you up the other side.

The Tomintoul to Cockbridge section is one which is often the first to close thanks to snow and includes one of the two highest points.  With sweeping bends and tight turns as well as long straights and steep descents, this section of road is really a drivers dream.  These are just two of our favourite sections of a road that is literally littered with superb driving experiences.

If you want to drive the snow road, get in touch and we’ll help organise your trip.  Alternatively why not build your own bespoke trip taking in the snow roads and other sections of this amazing part of the country.
